Meet Christine: Interview with VoyageMia Magazine
Hi Christine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My work today really evolved over time through both my professional experience and my own life transitions.
I started in my career guiding the families of older adults through the challenges of raising families, while supporting the needs of their older family members.
I founded Successful Life Transitions to help people navigate the most significant yet often under-planned stages of life: major transitions such as aging parents, retirement, career change, or redefining purpose in the next chapter.
Much of my time was spent working with individuals, particularly women, who were navigating these changes or rethinking what they wanted the next stage of their own lives to look like.
Those conversations often went beyond “what’s next for me” They were really about identity, purpose, and rediscovering parts of themselves that had been set aside during busy years of work and family life.
Having been through my own major life transitions, I understood firsthand how complex, and at times uncertain, those periods can feel, but also how much opportunity they hold for growth and reinvention.
Each transition was a stepping stone into my personal next chapter.
What I began to notice was that those same questions didn’t go away. They actually resurfaced later in life, especially as people approached retirement.
As I personally navigated those transitions, it became apparent that my work is to guide others through these experiences.
That realization really shaped the direction of my work.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest shifts for me was evolving my focus. As my clients needs transitioned, so did my calling.
Over time, I realized that the work I was doing was a natural segue into longevity and retirement — navigating change through major transitions.
At the same time, my experience serving as Chair of a nonprofit focused on helping individuals in the mature market find work and volunteer opportunities, along with my prior work in the healthcare space, gave me a broader perspective. I was seeing firsthand both the challenges and the opportunities that come with longer lives.
In many ways, that made this transition feel like a natural progression rather than a complete pivot.
Another challenge has been helping people recognize the importance of planning beyond finances. It’s not always part of the traditional conversation, yet it plays such a significant role in how people experience this stage of life.
What’s helped me navigate these challenges is the same process I guide my clients through—taking time to reflect, staying aligned with what matters most, and being open to refining the direction along the way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work focuses on helping individuals navigate major life transitions—particularly around retirement, career shifts, and redefining what the next chapter of life can look like.
I specialize in what I often refer to as the “human side” of longevity and life planning. While much of the traditional conversation around retirement centers on finances, my work is about helping people step back and reflect on questions like: What matters most to me now? How do I want to spend my time? What gives my life meaning and purpose going forward?
Through a structured and reflective process, I guide clients in reconnecting with their strengths, clarifying their priorities, and intentionally designing a next chapter that feels aligned, fulfilling, and engaging.
A big part of my work has been developing frameworks that help bring clarity to what can otherwise feel like an overwhelming or undefined stage of life. One of those is The 3 R’s of Retirement—Reawaken, Refine, and Redesign, which provides a clear pathway for individuals to move from uncertainty to a more intentional and purposeful next chapter.
These frameworks give people both structure and flexibility. They’re not prescriptive, but they help guide a deeper level of reflection and decision-making.
Over time, I’ve become known for helping people move from a place of uncertainty, where they’re asking “What’s next?”, to a place of clarity and confidence about how they want to live.
One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing that shift happen.
When someone begins to realize that this stage of life isn’t about winding down, but about reimagining what’s possible, it changes how they show up in their lives.
I’m also proud of the broader work I’ve been involved in through my role as Chair of a nonprofit supporting individuals 50+ in finding meaningful work and volunteer opportunities.
That experience has reinforced my belief that this stage of life holds tremendous value, not just for individuals, but for our communities as well.
What sets my work apart is the combination of personal experience, professional background, and a structured, framework-driven approach.
Having navigated my own life transitions, along with my experience in healthcare and in the nonprofit space focused on the mature market, I bring a well-rounded and deeply informed perspective.
Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution, I guide people through a process of self-discovery supported by these frameworks, helping them define what a fulfilling life looks like for them and how to intentionally create it.
At the end of the day, my work is about helping people not just plan for the next chapter, but truly design it in a way that reflects who they are and how they want to live.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I would say my clients deserve a great deal of credit. Their openness and willingness to engage in meaningful reflection has shaped not only their own journeys, but also how I’ve developed my frameworks and approach.
I’ve also been fortunate to have mentors and colleagues who have influenced my perspective along the way.
And of course, my own experiences, both personally and professionally, have played an important role in shaping the work I do today.
